Brian J. Witteman, AIA

Brian is a Wisconsin native and UW-Milwaukee School of Architecture grad who loves home design and smaller, detail oriented commercial design. Since 1993, Brian has mainly focused on single family residential architecture, both in the new construction and remodeling worlds. His design philosophy is focused on collaborating with homeowners so that their home is a reflection of their desires and lifestyle, tied to sound design principles, resulting in a home that is timeless, beautiful and uniquely theirs.

Four things to know about working with Pen & Hammer

1. Working with an architect doesn’t have to be intimidating.

We’re going to hang out, draw a few things, and design some cool spaces together. It’s as simple as that.

2. Our big projects make our small projects better.

Sure, we’ve done some big houses. We’ve also done a lot of small spaces. When you work with an architect who understands the big picture, everything becomes a lot easier.

3. Pricing shouldn’t be a mystery.

No two projects are the same, but we think this site does a pretty good job explaining how architectural fees work so you can estimate what a project might cost. We’re here to help you accomplish your goals – and we get that budget is one of them.

4. This can actually be fun.

We believe in projects that add to your life, not your stress levels. That’s why we work so hard to make sure each step of the process fits into your schedule. When you do that, building things actually becomes fun again.
