Kitchen Renovations
We love to renovate kitchens, because it involves thinking through so many different interactions. Kitchens are where people naturally gather during a party — whether you want them to or not. They’re where families engage by cooking together, eating together, and doing homework. They’re also where some of the most creative and inviting activities happen in the home, both cooking and sharing meals.
How many important conversations have taken place while moving around the kitchen? In our home, too many to count.
This multi-purpose blend of functionality and interaction turns the kitchen into an architectural puzzle that, when done well, can set the tone for the entire home.
Modern Villa Kitchen
This complete remodel was designed to blend with the existing style of a beautiful 1965 Modern Villa home. At its heart is a large informal dining space, centered around an island with a custom-designed table base. It also features a home office, serving as a hub to coordinate all the family activities in the home.
Modern Family Kitchen
Transformed from a bachelor pad into a space designed for large family gatherings, this modern kitchen features distinct three zones for cooking, clean up, and socializing. The project flowed naturally into the rest of the home, with a custom-designed stairway and an expanded balcony on the second floor.
Transitional Style Kitchen
This kitchen was part of a whole-house remodel of a 1960’s Prairie Style home. The client wanted to bridge the gap between traditional and modern, while reorienting the kitchen to take advantage of their beautiful view of Lake Michigan. This included furniture-like custom detailing on the wood-top island, and the creation of a mud-room in the old kitchen location, to create at atmosphere that’s simultaneously modern, engaging, and warm.
